Do I need a website already?
No. Pasture is your website. You get your own shop URL for free, and you can point your existing domain at us later. If you already have a site on Shopify, GrazeCart, Barn2Door, or anywhere else, paste your URL during signup — we'll pull your products, photos, and story so you don't re-enter anything.
Will you take my Barn2Door customers and orders with you?
Yes. Drop a CSV from your old platform — we dedupe by email then phone so re-uploads don't double up. Paste your old shop's URL and we pull products + photos. The whole switch happens in an afternoon, not a weekend.
How do catch-weight pre-orders work?
Use this for anything where the weight isn't final yet — half hogs, beef quarters, custom-processed birds, lamb shares, big CSA boxes. You set the per-pound (or per-unit) price and an estimate. Customer checks out; Stripe pre-authorizes the estimate plus a 20% buffer — they see a hold on their card, not a charge yet. After it's cut, weighed, or packed, you enter the actual amount in the dashboard. We capture only the real total. The unused portion releases back to the customer's card automatically. No re-invoicing, no Venmo requests. For individual items already weighed and labeled (1-lb bacon, 1-dozen eggs), use standard fixed pricing.
Can my customers manage their CSA subscription themselves?
Yes — that's the whole point. Each subscriber gets a private link. From their phone they can skip the next delivery, pause for a month, change pickup, or cancel. You stop being their inbox.
What happens to my customer list if I cancel?
You export it. CSV download, any time, anything you've put in. Your customers, your data, no hostage situation. We'd rather lose you than trap you.
Can I take cash at the farmer's market too?
Yes. Every order can be marked "pay at pickup" instead of online. We're a software, not a checkout monopoly — use it however you sell today.
Who pays the card-processing fee — me or the customer?
You — on card orders only. Cash or check at pickup has zero fees. For card orders it's the same Stripe 2.9% + $0.30 every platform charges, with one difference: we add nothing on top. Barn2Door charges 3.9% + $0.30 — that extra 1% goes to them, not Stripe. We pass through Stripe's standard rate and take zero.
What if I'm not technical?
Onboarding is 11 questions. Hit "draft my copy" and we write your hero, about, and FAQ from your answers. Drag-and-drop your photos (or pick from our library). You're live in 10 minutes. The first farmer we built this for was a Marine, not a developer.
Can I collect deposits for shares or batches?
Yes — built in. Create an offer ("Spring Whole Hog — $150 deposit," "Summer CSA — $200 deposit," "Fall Flower Subscription — $75 deposit"), customer pays the deposit through Stripe, you collect the balance at pickup. Spots-remaining counter creates urgency. No more ghosting at the drop-off.
